The Bridge Club

1. What is Bridge?
A game using a deck of playing cards having four people per table - opposites are partners!
2. What is a "Bridge Club"?
A group (usually the same "club" of people) of homogenous couples who enjoy getting together, dining (as in eating), and occasionally playing bridge but more often just dining.
3. What is the "The" Bridge Club?
A very talanted and witty group of erstwhile bridge players who enjoy dining in a group.
4. How long has this "group/club" been doing this?
Over twenty consecutive years!
5. What is definition of the term "Fremastat"?
Sir Edwin Fremastat was a master bridge player of the early nineteenth century and his rules of the game are strictly adhered to by "The Bridge Club"!
6. What is SARF?
SARF is an anachronism for some terribly nasty words but is a more common reference to the financial accumulations of the "Club", aka the "SARF Fund".
7. How many members does the Bridge Club consist of?
Twelve.
8. Who can join the Club?
No one. It is a closed membership of elitest snobs from Chapel Hill, NC. Only upon death, expulsion, or relocation can any member or couple be replaced.
9. Can relocated (usually couples moved to another locale) still participate?
Yes, on occasion "relocates" can be invited to "play" when they are "in town" or when they might "host" a bridge tournament in their new locale.
10. Are there rules?
Yes.
11. What are the most important rules?
Fremastat and dessert.
12. What is Fremastat Rule #59?
The literal translation, "The Lord hates a coward, shut up and bid!"
